Counter-Strike: KotH Week VII: EG.usa vs. mRev

In Week VI we saw EG.usa (then eMg) sweep the voting with a nearly 750 vote margin on the closest clan. Since x3o had been retired into the Hall of Kings the week prior, two teams were up to be voted in.This week only one makes the cut, and in one of the narrowest margins we are likely to see in the King of the Hill series, Malevolent Revolution has won the chance to step into the spotlight and take on EG.usa in a best-of-three match tomorrow evening.Keep in mind that the KotH series is now a weekly event. In the past matches were every two weeks for $500, now they are weekly with $250 on the line. As always, the team that wins the match will continue on to the following week's challenge. If a five win streak is achieved, then that team is placed into the Hall of Kings, from which they will compete in a yet to be announced special event later this year.Voting restarts and the cycle continues in a few days with eleven new teams joining the top four that didn't make the cut.Read more about the SteelSeries King of the Hill HERE!

Counter-Strike: fnatic suffers SEC penalty

According to the official statement released by the World Cyber Games committee, all players were informed that, during the prize cerimony, they would have to wear the official SEC 2008 Event Shirt. However, the Swedish players, after receiving their medals, left the podium and took their shirts off, without knowing that they would once again be called for a final group picture. When fnatic returned to the prize cerimony stage, they did not have the event shirts on, which breaks the tournament's rules. "We had some discussion, what to do," the WCG said. "The possibilities would have been deducting of the prize money or a ban of the players for the next SEC."However, the WCG ended up not going that far, and the Swedish team has only seen its auto-birth for the 2008 national final denied, which means that fnatic will have to go through the normal qualification system just like any other local team."Fnatic was informed that we had to wear our Samsung SEC jerseys on the prize ceremony when we were given our medals, which we did as obliged," said Samuel Mathews, Managing Director of Fnatic."After coming off the stage we were asked for an interview and as customary we took off our shirts to wear our Fnatic jerseys."We were then all invited onto the stage in a rush for a group photo and so the guys straight out of their interview ran on the stage for the photo in their Fnatic shirts. "It was a mistake and we are sorry. However it was a very harmless one!"

Team Dignitas have announced the addition of Bas "SKO" Dirks who will take the place of Luka "lukzaR" Puš.

Active once more, Dirks will take the place of in-game leader in Dignitas as the UK side prepares for i33 later this month. A poor performance at CDC4 saw Dignitas fail to make the top eight and "lukzaR" has taken the chop as a result, with a lack of activity the reason given. The announcement today confirms recent rumors that a change was on the cards for Dignitas and comes just three weeks before the team's next event.Dirks has big plans for the team, saying: "The Dignitas Call of Duty 4 team are a group of very talented players, and once they learn how to properly prepare for big events, I am very confident good results will follow". The Dutch player has captained a number of big-name European sides in the past and will be hoping to bring the same brand of dedication and hard work that saw the likes of Check-Six and Tek-9 rise to the top."His tactical mind is unrivaled" boasts former captain Mick Bradshaw, "and we hope he can bring our team and organization some much needed success again". Dignitas have failed to place in the top three at an international event in over a year but appear certain that the addition of "SKO" will turn things around for the embattled UK side.Luka "lukzaR" Puš, the player "SKO" will replace, said: "I believe this team has great potential and personality and will go far". Puš admitted his level of activity was holding the team back and has left on good terms.
